Alex Mulisa is the Coordinator of the National Fund for Environment and Climate Change (FONERWA). He has been at the forefront of the sustainable development process in Rwanda overseeing the integration of environment and climate change across economic sectors and more recently, the green growth initiatives in policy and implementation.
The current, as well as the previous roles, have facilitated engagement of sub-national, national and international partnerships. Taking advantage of a supportive national policy environment and reliable governance structures, he has helped mobilize more than US$ 90 Million in four years of fund operation and funded 32 projects currently under implementation.
Under his leadership, FONERWA has financed projects and programs delivering on the ecosystem and natural resources management, innovative financing of renewable energy, studies on green city concepts and mainstreaming green and climate resilience in local government planning and implementation.
Alex has a Masters of Science in Analytical/Environmental Chemistry from Middle Tennessee State University, USA and a Bachelor of Science: Chemistry & Environmental Science from the University of Western Ontario; Canada
