Ms. Aneta Nikolova is an Environmental Affairs Officer and Engineer in the Environment and Development Policy Section of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP). She has rich professional experience in sustainable development policy analysis, development and advocacy, as well as capacity development, intuitional strengthening and technical assistance to developing countries and countries with economies in transition in Europe, Africa, and Asia and the Pacific. Ms. Nikolova has broad educational background with degrees in Scientific Information Management, Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology (Engineer) and European Politics and Administration.
Since the 5th Ministerial Conference on Environment and Development for Asia and the Pacific (March 2005), she has been an active member of the ESCAP team developing and promoting the “Green Growth” approach toward sustainable and inclusive development. Ms. Nikolova leads the ESCAP’s regional green growth capacity development programme to support policy makers from developing countries and countries with economies in transition in the Asian and Pacific Region to develop and implement innovative economic growth strategies aiming at improving resource and eco-efficiency of the economy (using less to achieve more) and creating investments in poverty reduction and welfare programmes.
