Anja von Moltke is the Head of the Environment and Trade Unit in the United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment). She has also worked as Senior Advisor on Green Economy and Rio+20, and led for many years UN Environment’s work on economic instruments, environmental fiscal reform and environmentally harmful subsidies. Her expertise relates specifically to the field of climate change, energy, biodiversity and sustainable fisheries.
Prior to joining UN Environment in 1999, Anja worked for the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) as a climate change negotiator and was instrumental in developing and negotiating the Kyoto Protocol. She has also worked for several other agencies of the United Nations, including the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the Secretariat of the Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
Anja holds an MPhil in Environment and Development from Cambridge University and a BSc in Management from the London School of Economics (LSE).
