Anushika Karunaratne is a Lead safeguard specialist with the World Wildlife Fund. In this capacity she ensures oversight of WWF’s implementation of environment and social policies and procedures for all Green Climate Fund (GCF) and Green Environment Facility (GEF) projects. She also advises the WWF network and WWF partners on International Financial Institution (IFIs)safeguards systems and proposed reforms. Anushika is an admitted member of the New York Bar Association and holds a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) in Law and Politics from University of Hull and a Master of Law (LL.M) in Law and Government from American University, Washington College of Law.
Prior to joining WWF-US, she worked for the World Bank based in Washington DC, Nigeria and Rwanda as well as for United Nations Environment Program and the Government of Rwanda on various Climate Mitigation, social development and environmental compliance issues.
