Benoit Lefevre is a Senior Climate Change Specialist at the Climate Change division of the Inter-American Development Bank. His work focuses on transport, cities and efficient use of concessional finance. Previously, Benoit worked for the World Resources Institute (WRI) as Director of Energy & Climate & Finance of the Center for Sustainable Cities. In this role, he led activities on capacity-building (lead of the Transport Working Group of LEDS-GP), alternative business models and municipal finance (manager of the C40/Citi bank/WRI Financing Sustainable Cities Initiative), upstream project preparation (GEF project on “Climate Technology Transfer in LAC”), urban energy modeling, integrated land-use and transport policies. Prior to joining WRI, Benoit was director of the Urban Fabric Program at IDDRI, and visiting scholar at Berkeley. Trained engineer, he holds a PhD in economics and finance and did his Post-doctorate at Columbia University. Benoit was Lead-Author for the chapter "Cross-cutting Investment and Finance Issues" of the 5th Assessment Report (AR5), IPCC. He is the author of 5 books and many academic papers and opinion columns.
