
Christelle van Vuuren is the Associate Director of Carbon Trust Africa.
Christelle is an Associate Director with the Carbon Trust in their South African-based regional office. Her specialisms are in strategic decarbonisation advice for organisations looking to transition, and sustainable finance advisory and assurance services, developed by exploring these issues closely with her clients and through practical experience over the past 14 years. She has a cross-cutting understanding of climate change challenges, sustainable finance, interrelated carbon and energy matters, and reporting and regulatory responses. She holds a BEng Chemical Engineering with Honours in Environmental Engineering and Management of Technology, and passed CFA Level 1. Christelle led the team that developed the Handbook of Sustainable Finance for South Africa; is the technical lead for the development of the first national Green Finance Taxonomy and its extensions and embedding in the South African landscape; is delivering green bonds capacity building for South African municipalities; and leads green bonds assurance activities for domestic and international issuers. She’s also currently working to help configure the road to net zero for the critical minerals mining industry which includes close consideration of financing the industry transition.
