
Donovan Storey is the Deputy Director and Urban Lead – Green Cities, at the Global Green Growth Institute, Seoul. In his role he works with country teams and key stakeholders to identify green city projects related to waste management, urban planning, sustainable mobility, resource efficiency and sanitation in cities across Africa, Asia and Latin America. Previous to his current position he worked for six years at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP) in Bangkok, first as Chief of Social Policy and Population and then as Chief of the Sustainable Urban Development Section. Prior to the United Nations Donovan was a researcher and academic specializing in development management, urban planning, and environmental management. Over the past 20 years he has published over 30 international journal articles and book chapters. He retains an Adjunct Associate Professor position at the University of Queensland, Australia. Donovan has led projects related to urban planning and governance, environmental management, social inclusion, population dynamics, decent work and sustainable development for the Asian Development Bank, UN-Habitat, Oxfam, AusAID, NZAID, The Commonwealth Local Government Forum and the private sector. He has a B.A in Political Science & History, with Hons in Political Science, a PGDipDevStudies, and PhD in Development Studies.
