Edward B. Barbier is a University Distinguished Professor in the Department of Economics, Colorado State University and a Senior Scholar in the School of Global Environmental Sustainability. He is a highly cited scholar on global environmental and sustainability issues and has written extensively on green economy issues. Professor Barbier’s books include Blueprint for a Green Economy (with David Pearce and Anil Markandya, 1989) and A New Blueprint for a Green Economy (with Anil Markandya, 2012). In 2008-9, Barbier was asked by the UN Environment Programme to formulate their Global Green New Deal, which was published as A Global Green New Deal: Rethinking the Economic Recovery (2010). Two of his latest books are Nature and Wealth: Overcoming Environmental Scarcities and Inequality (2015) and The Water Paradox: Overcoming the Global Crisis in Water Management (2019).
