Fabrice is the Project Manager for the Global Child Project of the 'Implementing Sustainable Low and Non-Chemical Development in Small Island Developing States' (ISLANDS) Programme funded by the Global Environmental Facility (GEF). He comes with 11+ years of experience in international development and sustainable development, having worked mostly for the United Nations but also for the private sector and civil society as well as an independent consultant. During his career, Fabrice specialized in the circular economy and the environmentally sound management of chemicals and waste (C&W). His core topics of expertise are plastic waste, solid waste management and persistent organic pollutants (POPs). He has also worked extensively on industrial ecology (esp. Eco-Industrial Parks), the Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS), Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers (PRTR), ship recycling, e-waste, mercury, as well as green and sustainable chemistry. Most of his work has been focusing on strategic planning as well as policy analysis and development, having developed to date some 65 strategies in total for Ministries from 7 countries. Throughout his career, Fabrice has developed 11 international projects worth $80M in total, managed 16 projects worth a total of $14M, and evaluated 8 projects with a total budget of $124M.
Prior to joining GGKP, Fabrice has been working as an international expert for UNEP, UNDP, IMO and UNIDO. Most of his work as a freelance has been with the Secretariat of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions where he worked as a Plastic Waste Expert to prevent and minimize plastic waste at source in packaging and fisheries, as well as micro/nano-plastics’ releases in wastewater. There, he was primarily responsible in compiling international solutions worldwide, identifying best practices and assisting target countries in adapting and implementing them into innovative pilot projects (with a total of 12 pilots). In addition, he worked as Principal Consultant and Global Policy Lead for Resource Futures - a UK-based consultancy specialized in circularity - where he managed a team of five, oversaw the company’s global projects (mostly for the World Bank), delivered technical leadership in resources and waste management within these projects, and undertook business development and client engagement outside the UK.
Fabrice holds a Master degree in International Relations from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, in Geneva, where he focused on environmental issues, development economics, human rights and peacekeeping.
