José Palacín has been with the UN Economic Commission of Europe since September 2014. He is currently a Senior Economics Affair Officer at the Development Policies and Cross-Sectoral Coordination Unit of the Office of the Executive Secretary. Previously, he was Chief of the Innovative Policies Development Section and Economics Affair Officer at the Economic Analysis Division. On these capacities, he has been working on sustainable development, innovation and environmental performance issues, with a particular emphasis on the situation in countries with economies in transition.
Previously to joining the UN, he was a Senior Economist at Daiwa Securities SMBC in London. He has lectured on economics at the University of Wolverhampton and the Autonomous University of Barcelona. José Palacín has a PhD and in Russian and East European Studies (Economics, University of Birmingham, UK) and degrees in Economics and Law (Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain).
