Juhern Kim is a Senior Land-Use Specialist at the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). Prior to this, he was the Interim/Deputy Country Representative of GGGI’s Vietnam Office and Program Manager of Cambodia Program. He joined GGGI in 2012.
Before joining GGGI, he worked for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Geneva, Switzerland, where he contributed to UNEP’s landmark report on green economy including forestry and agriculture chapters. He also served the Government of the Republic of Korea’s Small and Medium Business Administration as a start-up member of the ASEM SMEs Eco-Innovation initiative where he developed and managed off-grid solar home system deployment projects in Cambodia and greening supply chain projects in Southeast Asia while encouraging local entrepreneurship – these efforts led to the establishment of a local social/environmental venture.
He has been a lead editor of the Korean editions of the Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB), the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and Corporation 2020. Juhern has been certified as an International Environmental Policy Expert by the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea. He is particularly keen on the growing trend of sustainability – merging environmental/social impact interests with the pursuit of financial return – through innovative investment schemes across public and private sectors.
