Julieta completed a Masters Degree in Urban Planning at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where she also got her Undergraduate Degree in Economics. She has taken courses in Environmental Economics as well as in Environmental Consulting. She has taught classes in the field of Sustainable Development at the undergraduate level and has collaborated with the UNAM at the graduate level in Economics and Environmental Economics Projects. Julieta has collaborated with the Federal Government in the National Commission for Natural Protected Areas. She has also collaborated with the local government of the State of Mexico as an adviser in Environmental Economics.
Julieta has co-authored several papers and has given conferences on Climatic Change and Environmental Economics. Among her papers is the Guide for Local Sustainable Development to be used by the Ministry of Social Development of the Federal Government. For the past five years, she has been collaborating with the Mario Molina Center developing proposals for the enhancement of the sustainability of Mexican cities. Among the projects included: An Index to Measure the Sustainability of Housing in Mexico, Evaluation of the Climatic Action Program for Mexico City, An Evaluation and Improvement of the Mexico City School Bus Program, Public Policy Proposal to Implement Low Emission Zones, and the Environmental Performance Index (Mexican cities).
