Karsten Steinfatt has been with the Trade and Environment Division of the WTO Secretariat since 2011. He supports the work of the WTO's regular and negotiating committees on trade and environment, including through research and analysis of relevant economic issues. Between 2002 and 2011, Karsten was with the WTO's Trade Policies Review Division, where he served as lead drafter of the reports for the United States and the European Union. Before joining the WTO, he worked on trade issues at the Organization of American States in Washington, DC, and the OECD. He co-teaches a master's level course on trade and climate change at the World Trade Institute in Bern. Karsten has an M.A. in public policy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, and a B.A. in economics from the American University of Paris.
