Katharina Koschek

Katharina Koschek is the Head of the Polymeric Materials and Mechanical Engineering department at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials IFAM. Katharina studies functional and sustainable polymers for lightweight engineering, joining technology, and smart materials. Stimuli-responsive, and bio-based polymers are of her particular interest with the overall aim to develop environmental-friendly lightweight materials, energy-efficient manufacturing, as well as novel recycling concepts. The design for recycling concept covers both the macroscopic and microscopic level calling for a strong interconnection of chemists, physicists, and engineers.
