
Kerry Max is the Deputy Director of Climate Finance Governance at Global Affairs Canada.
Kerry has over twenty-five years of experience in international development practice, policy and programming, including in private sector development, trade, investment, development finance and project management. He currently focuses on gender-responsive climate finance, to catalyze and leverage private sector investment to support climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Kerry joined Global Affairs Canada's international development climate finance team from the International Assistance Research and Knowledge Division in Policy Branch, where he helped promote evidence-based policy advice related to innovative/blended finance and gender-lens investing. His efforts build on his close to two years' experience as Director of Inclusive Finance at MEDA.
Kerry's previous work includes leading a team of private sector development, finance, natural resources, and energy and mining specialists supporting Canada's Sustainable Economic Growth programming and four years as head of aid to Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
Kerry has an M. Phil. in Economics from Oxford University, and an honours BA in International Development (Political Economy and Physical and Ecological Resource Management), from the University of Toronto. His work and studies have taken him to: Antigua, Barbados, Benin, Bolivia, Brazil, Cuba, El Salvador, Jamaica, Ghana, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Indonesia, Kenya, Nicaragua, Peru, Sri Lanka, St. Lucia, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, Yemen and Zimbabwe.
