Lindsay C. Stringer is Professor in Environment and Development at the University of Leeds, UK. Her research is interdisciplinary and focuses on environmental change, livelihoods and environmental governance, particularly relating to climate and land. Lindsay has published more than 150 papers and is a Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award Holder (2017). She was awarded the Philip Leverhulme Prize (2013) for her research on sustainability in the world’s drylands. Lindsay has held a number of international roles. She chaired the Independent international task force for the Dryland Systems Programme of the CGIAR (2014-16); was Coordinating Lead Author for the Africa Regional Assessment of the Intergovernmental science-policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), as well as Lead Author for the IPBES Land Degradation and Restoration Thematic Assessment (2015-18). She is an Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Lead Author for the Special Report on Climate and Land (2017-present) and Lead Author on the IPCC’s 6th Assessment Report (2018-present). From 2011-2014, she was Director of the Sustainability Research Institute at the University of Leeds.
