Merritt Hughes is a doctoral candidate in Public Policy at the McCormack Graduate School of Public Policy and Global Studies, University of Massachusetts, Boston. She worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a Senior Economist on topics including energy and climate change, rural development and agricultural finance. Merritt has published articles relate to these subject areas as well as more theoretical work on modeling methodologies including computable general equilibrium with a financial sector, and financial networks. She undertook a consultancy for the OECD, LEED in 2013-14 on social change associated with ageing labor markets in Japan and guest lectured at the Sorbonne on demographic change. Her current thesis focuses on how the analytical framework adopted to study greenhouse gas mitigation strategies influences policy design.
