Salman Hussain is the global coordinator of The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB) and the Head of the Ecosystem Services Economics Unit in UN Environment. The TEEB portfolio includes a work stream on the application of SEEA Experimental Ecosystem Accounting (SEEA-EEA) in Brazil, India, China, South Africa and Mexico, led by UN Statistics and funded by the EC, and work on natural capital accounting in the agri-food sector (TEEBAgriFood), with applications planned across 10 countries in 2018. Salman joined UN Environment in 2014. Before joining UN Environment, Salman was a researcher in ecological economics and the Academic Director of the University of Edinburgh Masters programme in Ecological Economics. His PhD was on the Greening of Industry and eco-labelling, but he has focused on ecosystem service valuation for the last decade, leading research projects for inter alia the UN, the EC, UK DEFRA and the Scottish Government.
