Shannon Avison holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies from the University of California Santa Barbara. Additionally, Ms. Avison is a certified Green Building Professional through an accredited program of the U.S. Green Building Council and has a keen interest for environmental and sustainability issues.
Following her undergraduate studies, Ms. Avison has fulfilled roles involving lobbying and publicity efforts within the green building sector. Additionally, she has gained experience working as a legal assistant on transactional leasing and land use matters. Recent work experience includes data analysis related to corporate social responsibility, where she captured, analyzed and coded various data on an array of multi-national corporations in order to create reports or “ethical snapshots” of these companies.
Currently, Ms. Avison is pursuing her Master’s degree in Standardization, Social Regulation and Sustainable Development at the University of Geneva where she is furthering her knowledge of sustainable development and related challenges. The program takes a multidisciplinary approach built on the three pillars of sustainability (economy, society, environment) and focuses on the role of standards and management systems to promote sustainable environmental and socio-economic outcomes both in the public and private sectors.
