Sherika Ballingsingh

Sherika Whitelocke-Ballingsingh is the Poison Information Coordinator for the Caribbean Poison Information Network, located at the University of Technology, Jamaica. She is a Public Health Inspector by training with over 17 years of tackling public health issues. Her education and specialist background are Public Health at the International Level, Medical Toxicology, Education, and Training. She works both in the public sector and academic institutions. Her research area and professional background primarily focus on poison through chemicals, with recent research work to include determinants to unintentional poisoning via household chemicals, lead in paint study in Jamaica, and Pesticide Poisoning within Farming Communities. She has a passion for public health and protecting vulnerable populations from poisoning. She initiates discussions with relevant stakeholders for policies to protect against poisoning both in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean.
