Sonja Malicevic is a climate finance and sustainable development specialist with over 13 years of experience across UNEP, UNICEF, IRENA and private consultancy. At UNEP’s Climate Mitigation Unit, the Implementing Agency for the NZNPA IP, she leads the design and coordination of GEF- and GCF-funded projects and programs advancing low-carbon transitions, methane abatement, and nature-positive investments. Her work focuses on integrating finance, policy, and partnerships to accelerate the shift toward net-zero, resilient economies. She has supported global and multi-country initiatives across Southeast Europe, MENA, and Asia-Pacific, and holds master’s degrees in Sustainable Energy Systems (University of Lisbon) and Human Ecology (Lund University).
