
Dr Stanislav Shmelev is an ecological economist, CEO of Environment Europe Limited, Oxford; TRIUM MBA 2021 at LSE, NYU & HEC, author and speaker http://environmenteurope.eu. He has a PhD in Ecological Economics and Mathematical Methods (2003), is a LEAD Europe Fellow (2007) and was named one in top four most promising young economists in the world by the Handelsblatt Newspaper and the Institute for New Economic Thinking. He is a member of the TRIUM EMBA 2021 cohort at LSE, NYU and HEC. He is focusing on macroeconomic sustainability, sustainable cities, circular economy, environmentally extended input-output modelling, multi-criteria decision aid, environmental policy issues and renewable energy.
Formerly a Senior Researcher at Oxford University, Visiting Professor at the University of Geneva, Paris, Versailles, consultant to UNDP, UNEP and IUCN, he is an author of 'Ecological Economics: Sustainability in Practice' (Springer, 2012) and author and editor of 'Sustainable Cities Reimagined' (Routledge, 2020), 'Green Economy Reader' (Springer, 2017), 'Sustainability Analysis' (Palgrave, 2012) and 'Ecosystems' (Environment Europe Press, 2018).
Dr Shmelev held a panel at the UN Habitat World Urban Forum 9 and acted as a keynote speaker at UNFCCC COP23, UNFCCC COP24, UN Rio+20, World Resources Forum, Astana Expo and many other forums. The Executive education programme in Ecological Economics he has initiated and run attracted representatives of 58 countries, including representatives of UNDP, UNEP, ILO, IUCN, OECD, GGGI, WWF, companies like Shell and Deloitte, NGOs like WWF, ministries and leading universities like Oxford, UCL, Edinburgh, TU Munich, Utrecht, Zurich, Lund, Uppsala, Queen Mary University of London, Aarhus University, Southhampton, Trinity College Dublin, Bergen, Bath. He has supervised MSc dissertations at the University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, University of Edinburgh, University of Vienna.
