Steve Bass is the first Senior Associate of the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED). He co-founded the Green Economy Coalition, initiated IIED’s work on green growth, and has conducted multi-stakeholder green economy dialogues in several developing countries. Steve chairs the UK Government’s 8-year research programme, Ecosystem Services for Poverty Alleviation.
Steve’s experience is in international policy processes for sustainable development and poverty reduction, with much in-country work in Africa, South Asia and the Caribbean. He was previously Chief Environment Adviser at DFID. With degrees from Oxford and Manchester Universities in Forestry, Agriculture and Landscape Planning, he has published several books on sustainable development, environmental mainstreaming, and forest management. He was awarded the Queen’s Award for Forestry in 2001
