
Tim Reber is a Project Lead for International Programs at the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory. He leads a diverse portfolio aimed at accelerating deployment of renewable energy and increasing access to reliable, clean and affordable electricity with partners around the world, with a primary focus in sub-Saharan Africa. His responsibilities include managing technical assistance and capacity building for mini-grids and off-grid energy access in collaboration with the Africa LEDS Partnership and Power Africa, supporting implementation of Low Emission Development Strategies and related activities under the LEDS Global Partnership, and leadership of several bilateral clean energy and LEDS-related initiatives in support of the USAID-NREL Partnership. His work touches a variety of topics including power sector transformation and reform, mini-grid scale-up approaches, LEDS planning and implementation, variable renewable energy grid integration, and related policy and institutional issues. Prior to joining NREL, Reber worked as a community energy consultant in Karnataka, India, supporting small-scale clean energy technologies and micro-finance for small farmers. He holds an MA in Sustainable Energy and Earth Science from Cornell University.
