Climate TRACE is a platform for the collection and sharing of greenhouse gas emissions from human activities to facilitate climate action, offering the the world’s first comprehensive accounting of GHG emissions based primarily on direct, independent observation.
Its innovative, open and accessible approach relies on advances in technology to fill critical knowledge gaps for all countries that rely on the patchwork system of self-reporting that serves as the basis for most existing emissions inventories.
The inaugural Climate TRACE dataset unveiled in September 2021 covers annual emissions for every country across 10 sectors and 38 subsectors for the years 2015–2020. The platform provides a portal where these figures and data can be accessed.
