It included one panel and three working groups. The Regional Consultation was organized by UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and GO4SDGs (Global Opportunities for SDGs).

Some of the key messages and recommendations emerging from plenary include:

  • Gender-responsive environmental policies must be developed and strong support provided for grassroots women's movement to take part in policymaking process;
  • Integrated and coordinated approaches are needed to halt climate change and biodiversity loss;
  • There is a need to scale up finance, including through blended finance for MSMEs and combating illicit and harmful financial flows;
  • The world is capable of taking bold action now to ensure a healthier planet in the future;
  • High-impact sectors that drive climate change and biodiversity loss, such as food production and manufacturing, are also among those most affected by COVID-19 and must be urgently addressed;
  • The war in Ukraine was made possible by years of fossil fuels exports, and any recovery should therefore include a ban on fossil fuel exports, which would also directly contribute to addressing climate change. Earth's resources and benefits.
