The development objective of the Land for Agricultural Development Project for Bolivia is to establish an alternative decentralized beneficiary-driven land distribution mechanism for organized landless or poor farmers; and to support productive investments thereon to allow increased and more sustainable livelihoods for such beneficiaries. The closing date of the project will be extended from June 29, 2012 to March 31, 2014. The extension will ensure that key activities to achieve project objectives are successfully completed, that all targets are met, and that project results are sustainable. It is especially important that Productive Associations (PAs) are provided with sufficient time to finalize their investments and complete productive cycles, and with adequate follow up to enhance their potential for continuing once they graduate from the project. This will be the first closing date extension of the project.
