GGGI Indonesia - Green Growth Program: Mainstreaming Green Growth within Indonesia’s economic development planning processes

The Government of Indonesia (GoI) has set a goal to become one of the top ten largest economies in the world by 2025, and recognizes that to achieve this goal in a socially inclusive and environmentally sustainable way, Indonesia will need to shift from its traditional growth model toward a green growth pathway. In support of this goal, GGGI has partnered with the Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS), the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, and Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to facilitate the integration of green growth planning at all levels of Indonesia’s development framework. The Mainstreaming Green Growth within Indonesia’s economic development planning processes project is:

  • Developing an Indonesian “Green Growth Roadmap”
  • Developing a systematic approach to measure, improve and mainstream green growth into planning and investments processes
  • Preparing business cases that attract investment in priority green growth technology areas

The overall objectives of this project are to develop strategies to integrate green growth goals, concepts, methods, tools, and practices into development planning, identify short, medium, and long term needs to design, plan, and implement interventions that can drive green growth and generate capacity, tools and case studies to facilitate the mainstreaming of green growth into national socioeconomic development planning.
