Green Economy Initiative - Ghana

The current project is building on the Green Economy Scoping Study which was undertaken by UNEP and MESTI between 2012 and 2013. The project will contribute to stimulate investment and policy initiatives that promote green economy in Ghana. By doing this, it will enhance and support the existing and future national programmes on Sustainable Development, climate change and sustainable energy production.

The project comprises of the following components:
A Green Economy Assessment - A quantitative analysis to identify the key opportunities for a green economy transition in Ghana including the potential impact of increased green investments in terms of economic growth and development, poverty reduction and environmental improvement;

Green Economy Fiscal Policy study - The identification and analysis of the required enabling policies and instruments, such as fiscal instruments to finance the GE transition;

Green Economy Indicators - The establishment of possible measurement frameworks (indicators) and targets to support and measure the transition to a green economy;

Green Economy Action Plan- The development of a GE Action Plan (or Roadmap) for the country.
