The objective of the Power Development Project (PDP) for Nepal is to increase access to electricity in rural areas; and improve the quantum and efficiency of electricity supply. This restructuring paper seeks approval to restructure the PDP to partially cancel the project funds of SDR 4.11 million (USD 6.30 million equivalent) that will not be utilize by the project closing date of December 31, 2013. The Ministry of Finance, on behalf of Government of Nepal (GON), has officially requested in a letter to International Development Association (IDA) dated December 26, 2013 the cancellation of USD 7.25 million of project funds under the PDP. However, the available balance of project funds as of the requested date was USD 6.44 million.
