SwitchMed is an EU-funded initiative fostering Sustainable Consumption and Production patterns in the Southern Mediterranean and stimulating the creation of new greener business opportunities and decent employment while reducing the environmental footprint of consumption and production activities.
In 2018, EfD launches a new collaborative research program called Policy Instruments for Sustainable Management of Oceans and Marine Resources. The two focus areas of the program will be effective management of fisheries and combating marine pollution, the latter with a specific focus on plastic waste.
Deforestation of the Amazon region is resulting in the loss of biodiversity, the release of greenhouse gases and a reduction in the size of areas where traditional population groups live. Brazil has therefore set itself ambitious targets for the reduction of deforestation.
