This report provides an update on the implementation status of Tuvalu’s Integrated Waste Policy Action Plan (2017-2026) during the period of January 2018 to March 2019. The Action Plan is the main national policy framework to guide the management of waste in Tuvalu. It sets the long-term vision of having “A cleaner and healthier Tuvalu for today and future generations,” with the following goals:
- Goal 1: Strengthen institutional systems to address gaps in waste management.
- Goal 2: The stakeholders fully understand the merits of proper waste management and co-share the responsibility of managing waste.
- Goal 3: Establish strong partnerships between the public and the private sector in the delivery of waste services.
- Goal 4: Delivered waste services follow best practice and cost-effective approaches tailored to local conditions, with continuous improvement.
- Goal 5: Enhanced capacities of waste practitioners.
- Goal 6: Waste activity outcomes are reported and disseminated to relevant stakeholders.
