Aid for Trade in Asia and the Pacific: Leveraging trade and digital agreements for sustainable development

This report looks at how aid for trade should be modernized so it reflects new economic and trade realities, including the risk of global value chain disruptions, preference erosion, the emergence of new digital technologies and the rising need for regional cooperation.

It also underlines the critical role of trade in promoting economic resilience in developing countries and least developed countries (LDCs), especially in the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) context. In particular, the report highlights the benefits of trade and digital agreements in facilitating regional trade and recovery.

The report demonstrates the need for updated approaches to aid for trade in the region to support effective participation in such agreements, undertake reforms, and promote access to digitalization in ways that promote inclusive development and deliver the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
