Analyzing the Policy Landscape for Supporting the Clean Energy Transition in Small and Medium Enterprises in India

The clean energy transition is crucial for aligning with India’s global climate commitments, but small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) face significant barriers due to the high up-front costs associated with clean energy technologies.

This paper explores the most effective ways to design subsidies that encourage SMEs in India to adopt clean energy technologies. By analyzing policies, schemes and programmes, it provides insights into how government initiatives can accelerate the energy transition within the SME sector. 

The paper concludes that well-designed policies and targeted subsidies are essential for overcoming the financial challenges SMEs face in adopting clean energy technologies.
