In light of the recent spikes in energy and food prices, this report stresses the importance of a fast transition towards the adoption of clean technologies, as a fast transition also comes with lower costs for these technologies and thus making them available for all.
The progress of reducing emissions is assessed in five key sectors within this report: power, hydrogen, road transport, steel and agriculture. Requested by world leaders at COP26, the report aims at informing policymakers, business leaders and civil society organizations on how to strengthen collaboration across major emitting sectors.
Recommendations are made in line of stronger collaboration between relevant stakeholders to establish common standards, build knowledge in technology R&D, reach a level playing field for trade and improve overall technical and financial assistance.
