Traditional economic concepts and global financial systems were established after World War II to rebuild infrastructure and capitalize on abundant natural resources. At that time, GDP growth was seen as a reliable measure of social welfare. But things have changed.

Climate change is accelerating faster than anticipated, and the world has already exceeded six out of nine planetary boundaries, including biodiversity loss and climate disruption. 

This paper highlights three issues – sharing the burden fairly, closing the finance gap and creating a shared vision  that must be addressed to transform economies and societies.
