In February 2022, the Working Group II contribution to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report, Climate Change 2022: Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability, was published. The report assesses the impacts of climate change, looking at ecosystems, biodiversity and human communities at global and regional levels. It also reviews vulnerabilities and the capacities and limits of the natural world and human societies to adapt to climate change.
This brief from the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) identifies the key points of the IPCC report, and provides an overview of what this means for businesses. It covers three areas in which businesses can take action: managing and reducing emissions; reducing risks with adaptation measures; and reducing vulnerability by addressing social justice and equity.
