Organisation:
Ireland's rapid economic growth has brought prosperity, but also a rise in material consumption and environmental impact.
This report highlights the urgent need for a transition to a circular economy to reduce material use and carbon emissions. It reveals that Ireland's material consumption per capita is significantly higher than both the EU average and the sustainable threshold.
By adopting circular economy strategies across these sectors, Ireland could reduce its material consumption and carbon emissions by about one-third and more than triple its Circularity Metric, all while enhancing the well-being of its residents.
