This note analyzes and compares two key international standards that guide the design and implementation of NbS. It examines their principles, safeguards and operational requirements, highlighting areas of alignment and divergence.

With growing recognition, NbS are being embedded in national climate and biodiversity strategies, including nationally determined contributions, adaptation plans and biodiversity action plans. Clear, credible standards are essential to ensure their effectiveness and integrity at scale.
