Development Co-operation and the Elimination of Plastic Pollution

Development cooperation

This policy brief highlights what it will take to end plastic pollution globally, focusing on the need for strong policy action and international cooperation. It shows how effective policies across the entire life of plastics production, use and disposal can stop plastic from leaking into the environment.

The report indicates that while the total cost of these policies is not very high, poorer countries especially in sub-Saharan Africa will face bigger financial challenges.

It stresses the importance of mobilising resources and strengthening international support to help developing countries reduce plastic waste and build better waste management systems.
