This publication presents a selection of 30 applied Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) measures across five ecosystems: Mountain, grassland and forest ecosystems; River, wetland and inland water ecosystems; Agro-ecosystems and drylands; Urban ecosystems; and Marine and coastal ecosystems. EbA solutions aim to address specific challenges related to climate change (e.g. floods, droughts, storms, sea level rise, melting of glaciers) on human wellbeing through the sustainable management of ecosystems and the services they provide. These solutions are intended to inspire policy and decision makers as well as project developers, showing that EbA has ‘many faces’ and is being implemented successfully by a broad range of actors and organizations.
This publication has been prepared as part of the global project "Mainstreaming Ecosystem-based Adaptation,” which was established to strengthen the ability of decision-makers at international, national, and local levels to mainstream EbA into policy and planning processes.
