Emissions Gap Report 2024

Emission Gap Report

Without stronger ambition and immediate action, the world faces temperature increases of 2.6–3.1°C by the end of the century, threatening devastating consequences for people, ecosystems and economies.

This report examines the emissions reductions required in the next round of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), due by 2025.

It highlights pathways to limit warming to 1.5°C, emphasizing the critical role of renewable energy like solar and wind, along with forest restoration. Achieving this goal requires a whole-of-government approach, socioeconomic co-benefits, enhanced global cooperation, private sector action and a six-fold increase in mitigation investments.
