The Indian State of Jharkhand's energy transition presents a unique opportunity to reshape its employment landscape by creating a significant number of green jobs, driving the state towards a sustainable economic future.
The study outlines two scenarios: the Ambitious Policy Scenario (APS) and the Accelerated Green Transition Scenario (AGTS), both projecting substantial job creation in Jharkhand by 2030. The APS focuses on ambitious targets for renewable energy, electric vehicle adoption, and green manufacturing, aiming to generate direct and indirect green jobs. Both scenarios emphasize the need for strong policy support, substantial private sector investment and skill development initiatives.
Key strategies include expanding renewable energy capacity, promoting biofuel and green hydrogen production, and boosting electric vehicle manufacturing. Establishing green skills training centres and fostering industry-academia collaborations are critical to ensuring that the workforce is prepared for these emerging opportunities.
