GIZ Financing Circular Economy

The study conducted by GIZ focuses on circular finance, as it is one of the major bottlenecks to the transition towards circular economy. Circular economy and circular finance can contribute to a just, green and peaceful transition, resource efficiency and higher resource independence, and internalizing external costs and thus giving natural resources a real price tag.

The study specifically focuses on access to finance, risk reduction and enabling environments. It looks at circular economy approaches in relevant sectors and the related barriers and entry points. It also provides some prospective guidance on how development cooperation could contribute to closing the financing gap for circular economy in low- and middle-income countries.

The focus is set on five selected countries: Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Viet Nam, Albania and Rwanda.
