The building and construction sector is pivotal to Indonesia’s economic and sustainable development, but is also a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. In 2021, the sector accounted for 23% of the country's total energy consumption, projected to rise to 40% by 2030. 

This report aims to enhance understanding of the financial barriers and solutions for implementing net-zero carbon buildings in Indonesia.

It evaluates the current use of financial instruments and regulatory frameworks to promote green building development, identifying the severity of various barriers and assessing the potential of different financial and policy tools to scale up the sector.
