Financing Nature’s Adaptive Capacity

Nature-based solutions (NbS) are closely aligned with climate adaptation, offering cost-effective, locally grounded ways to strengthen ecosystems while protecting communities from climate impacts. 

This report examines five global case studies, highlighting innovative mechanisms that mobilize private capital into adaptive NbS, based on desk research and interviews with fund managers and investment leads.

While not exhaustive, the cases illustrate how NbS are increasingly recognized as adaptation investments and offer practical lessons and challenges for scaling finance through well-designed financial vehicles.
