Gender in Focus

Women often lead as responsible consumers, entrepreneurs and community leaders, but are more likely to work in informal and lower-value roles like waste picking and recycling.

This report shines a light on the  gender dynamics in the lifecycle of plastics, showing how inequalities in society are also reflected in how plastics are produced, used and managed. It explores how men and women are involved in different ways, from design and production to waste and recycling.

The report also uncovers the root causes of this imbalance such as gaps in education, access to finance, and barriers to leadership roles and calls for more inclusive approaches to a circular plastics economy.
