
This publication aims to integrate gender considerations into international chemicals and waste management policies, and seeks to raise awareness and boost the participation of women’s organizations and gender experts in UN processes on chemical safety.
It explores key concepts like gender mainstreaming, gender focal points and gender action plans, while highlighting expert insights and case studies on how chemical exposure affects women and men differently. It also emphasizes the need for gender analysis and offers policy tools such as gender impact assessments to support more inclusive decision-making.
As part of the “Global Development, Review and Update of NIPs under the Stockholm Convention on POPs” project, the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP) is leading Component 4, focused on disseminating information, managing knowledge and coordinating with the Stockholm Convention Secretariat to provide accessible, integrated tools and resources for all Parties.
