GGGI Technical Report No. 5: Green Growth Index Concept, Methods, and Applications

This report presents the methodology that underlies GGGI’s Green Growth Index, which measures the performance of 115 countries in four green growth dimensions: (1) efficient and sustainable resource use, (2) natural capital protection, (3) green economic opportunities, and (4) social inclusion. The Green Growth Index and its dimensions draw on 36 indicators, all of which are relevant for tracking implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Paris Climate Change Agreement, and the Aichi Biodiversity Targets. The report also describes the main findings from the Index and which regions are leading the rankings.
