This Country Planning Framework (CPF) sets the strategic direction for the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) in Rwanda over the period 2016-2020.
For the last decade, Rwanda has been one of the fastest growing economies in Sub-Saharan Africa, with an average economic growth rate of 7.8 percent. Despite this impressive economic growth and progressive national policies, Rwanda continues to face growing challenges from climate change, limited exports, and population growth. In this context, GGGI has developed this CPF based on two main programs—climate resilience and resource mobilisation.
The CPF is articulated around the following three outcomes:
- Outcome 1: Rwanda’s urbanisation is guided by green growth principles.
- Outcome 2: Resource-efficient, low-carbon technologies and infrastructure solutions are understood and prioritised in urban development projects.
- Outcome 3: Sustainable financial instruments support green growth projects.
